Hi. My name is Horst Günther Burkhardt III, and I'm a geek. This is, as you may have guessed, my website. It is graciously hosted by Steve Youngs of the SXEmacs project. It has formerly lived at Unlogic Networks and at Tee Hao Wei's k9-net.
I believe I am an educated person, and so far very few
people have been able to shake that belief. I have thankfully extricated
myself from that pit of hell known as Secondary School, and considering
that I took a path less travelled, and a damned cobblestone one at that,
I think I did rather well.
I've also done introductory courses in Logic and Philosophy as an adjunct
to my schooling, and developed this further in my own study over time.
One of my many talents is photography. Occasionally I also stray into other forms of art, which you may consume at my deviantArt page, and more recently also on flickr. My specialties are Architectural photography, Portraiture, and Street photography - (Street photography is getting harder and harder in police states like the UK and New South Wales!) Before you ask, because many do, yes, I've done nudes. It's really not that much different to photographing clothed people.
Another of my talents (though some would argue this) is music. I've been playing the piano since 1998 on-and-off, with a large gap between 2000 and 2006 - thankfully my time in the nuthouse reawakened my old skills and affirmed in me some new ones.

I'm damned handy with a soldering iron, and I'm currently working on designing better PCBs for electronics gear.
In late 2004 I was diagnosed with psychosis and then placed in a psychiatric ward for observation and diagnostic clarification. Previous diagnoses included ADHD, OCD, and Epilepsy. Of those, the only one still standing is Epilepsy, mainly because that's the only provable one. My current psychiatric diagnoses are Asperger's Syndrome and Psychosis. I haven't killed anyone, I don't intend to, I don't hear voices or see things that aren't there. I'm perfectly normal - or at least I can pretend to be with little effort. I am also extremely paranoid.
I run a moderately successful IRC Channel on the FreeNode network called ##Socialites - and if you want to visit, my nickname on there is PeanutHorst (and occasionally MidnightCommando) so be sure to say hello. :)
